About

Founded in 2025, Pebble is a Chicago small press interested in nature, craft, regionalism, and obscure or unclassifiable excellence.

Pebble seeks to bring beauty to form by encouraging writers of all ages, occupations, and inclinations to try to say something about their life in written word. Nature makes many pebbles for our beach, and how rewarding it is to occasionally polish and leave one of our own.

Pebble looks for thick and stylish description, diaries documenting pleasure in craft or creative work, illustrated life-writing, and your own uncommon idea for a book. If you have attentive and lyrical writing to offer about such topics as: your local cinema, life as a bartender, photography, the decorative arts, lost histories, someone you interact with everyday, or a particular kind of weather, send it over!

“The commonest pebble, dusty and marked with the stain of the ground, seems to me so wonderful; my mind works round it till it becomes the sun and centre of a system of thought and feeling.”

– Richard Jefferies

Pebble is edited and published by Kylie Walters.
